LAkeside Literature Retreat

Read, Rest and Relax

Want a weekend where you can get away somewhere quiet where you can tackle your TBR (to be read)? Want to read with others and have great discussions about the same book? Or maybe some combination of the two?

We have the perfect weekend for you at the Lakeside Literature Retreat! Escape to the lake and have time and space to read. If reading all weekend sounds a bit too cerebral there is plenty of space to craft, sew, or just relax with others just like you. All you have to do is bring your supplies and enjoy. We will have our sturdy crafting tables set up in a warm meeting space for you to settle in for a restful weekend of reading and/or creating.

As a Lakeside Literature Retreat participant you will get to stay in Selkirk Lodge, our hotel-style lodge. Each room has a queen bed, twin bunk bed, and an ensuite bathroom. We do our best to accommodate needs, roommate requests, and dietary restrictions to make your weekend a breeze.

You can choose to read whatever you have brought with you or join in and read a pre-selected book that we will enjoy together. Twinlow will not provide reading materials. We will be reading the following book and discussing it as a group:

  • Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others by Barbara Brown Taylor

Individuals rooms are not offered or an option during registration. While you may get lucky, Twinlow does not offer individual rooms nor will we allow people to pay extra for their own room. Housing is based on a first come, first serve basis.

Meals will start Friday night with dinner and finish with brunch on Sunday morning. Selkirk Lodge has two kitchens, and you are welcome to bring your own snacks, tea and coffee.

This is a weekend for many adults—who are often primary care-takers—to get away. We would appreciate all participants to be mindful of their physical needs. If you need extra assistance getting around, or you have health needs, please make sure to arrange ahead of time for someone to help you get through the weekend. Transportation to and from Twinlow Camp is not arranged by Twinlow. At Twinlow we always strive to be accessible to all ability levels; however, accessibility is not always guaranteed in the non-summer months, and handicap lodging is limited.

Escape to the wilderness!
